Maieutic Raises $4.15M to Revolutionize Chip Design with Generative AI

Bengaluru deeptech startup Maieutic Semiconductor has raised $4.15 million in a seed funding round co-led by Exfinity Venture Partners and Endiya Partners in a major vote of confidence in its vision of revolutionizing the future of semiconductor design using the capabilities of generative AI.

Founded by a team of serial entrepreneurs and industry veterans — Gireesh Rajendran (CEO), Ashish Lachhwani (CBO), Rakesh Kumar (CPO), and Krishna Sankar (CTO) — Maieutic is set to address one of the industry’s most complex and underserved challenges: modernizing and accelerating the analog and mixed-signal chip design process, which has historically been resistant to automation. Maieutic’s GenAI-first platform is being developed as an intelligent design co-pilot that aims to slash the early-stage chip design cycle from weeks to days, reduce human intervention in error detection, and enable domain experts to focus on higher-value design decisions rather than repetitive, time-consuming iterations. Its solution integrates advanced AI algorithms to generate, analyze, and validate design trade-offs, making it possible for design teams to handle growing complexity while shortening time to market — a crucial advantage as the semiconductor industry faces surging global demand for high-performance, energy-efficient chips.

“Semiconductor design has remained largely untouched by modern productivity enhancements,” said Gireesh Rajendran, CEO and Co-founder of Maieutic Semiconductor. “At Maieutic, we’re combining decades of deep analog and semiconductor experience with cutting-edge AI techniques to create a copilot that reduces the design cycle from weeks to days, spots inconsistencies without expert intervention, and brings intelligence to every trade-off. We’re thrilled to have raised this round of funding and are incredibly grateful to have visionary partners like Endiya Partners and Exfinity Venture Partners on board, who not only believe in our mission but are actively supporting us as we build for the future of chip design.”

Gireesh’s credibility in the industry comes from his successful track record as the co-founder and CEO of Steradian Semiconductors, a millimeter-wave radar startup that was acquired by Renesas Electronics in 2022. His leadership, combined with the founding team’s blend of domain expertise, global semiconductor experience, and AI talent, positions Maieutic to become a key player in the emerging GenAI-for-hardware segment.

Industry experts note that while AI has made significant inroads in digital chip design, the analog domain — critical for applications like RF, sensors, and power management — remains largely manual, with design workflows heavily dependent on domain expertise and iterative refinements. Investors see Maieutic’s AI-first approach as a bold and timely opportunity to bridge this gap.

Maieutic is solving a real problem in the semiconductor design space, an area that has long resisted automation despite its growing complexity. Analog workflows in particular have remained largely manual and dependent on domain expertise and time-intensive iteration. Maieutic’s AI-first approach has the potential to change that. The founding team has both deep technical expertise and years of experience in taking products to market,” said Sateesh Andra, Managing Partner at Endiya Partners.

Echoing this sentiment, Chinnu Senthilkumar, Managing Partner at Exfinity Venture Partners, added: “The Maieutic team brings an exceptional blend of deep technical expertise, global semiconductor experience, and a clear vision for the future of analog design. Having spent more than a decade in Analog/Mixed-Signal design early in my career, I truly appreciate the complexity and magnitude of the problem. What truly excites me is their bold approach to applying GenAI to an area that has seen very little disruption over the decades. As the demand for intelligent, high-performance chips continues to grow globally, Maieutic is uniquely positioned to lead this paradigm shift. We are proud to support them on this journey and confident that they will build a category-defining company from India.”

Exfinity Venture Partners has a proven track record in backing pioneering deeptech and semiconductor startups, with notable success stories such as Kinara.ai — an edge AI semiconductor firm that was acquired by Silicon Labs.

With its fresh funding, Maieutic plans to expand its engineering team significantly, deepen its AI and semiconductor R&D capabilities, and build out its early pilot programs with global chip design houses. The startup’s goal is to become the go-to copilot for analog and mixed-signal design teams worldwide, empowering semiconductor companies to keep pace with ever-growing demands for more powerful, efficient, and specialized chips that power everything from autonomous vehicles to 5G networks and next-generation consumer electronics.

As India continues its push to become a global semiconductor design and manufacturing hub, companies like Maieutic exemplify the country’s rising deeptech potential — harnessing AI to tackle some of the industry’s most intricate challenges and redefining what’s possible in advanced chip design.
