Omspace Rocket and Exploration Raises $3 Million to Accelerate Reusable Launch Vehicle Development
In a major breakthrough for India’s growing private space industry, Omspace Rocket and Exploration, a cutting-edge space-tech startup incubated at CrAdLE (Centre for Advancing & Launching Enterprises) under the umbrella of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), has raised $3 million in a pre-seed funding round. The funding is provided by a leading Family Office and strategic Angel Investor, reflecting tremendous confidence in Omspace’s vision to make space more accessible and affordable, particularly for emerging market small satellite operators.”.
Ahmedabad-headquartered company is aiming to transform space transportation by creating reusable launch vehicles (RLVs) specific to small and nano satellite payloads. The new infusion of capital will go toward several growth-oriented initiatives, such as completing and test-flighting its ‘Infinity One’ prototype, enhancing its research and development capabilities, adding specialist technical personnel, and upscaling manufacturing infrastructure and ground support systems, the company’s official statement said.
Founded by a team of aerospace engineers and technologists, Omspace has been steadily carving its niche within India’s rapidly evolving space-tech ecosystem. With global small satellite launches projected to grow exponentially over the next decade, the company’s reusable micro-launch vehicles aim to solve the twin challenges of launch affordability and on-demand orbital access. Its modular design approach allows quick turnaround between launches while maintaining low operational costs — a critical need for satellite operators in developing nations.
In a statement, Mistry, one of the co-founders and spokespersons for Omspace, remarked: “This funding is a major milestone in our mission to democratise access to space from India. We are deeply thankful to CrAdLE and EDII for believing in our vision and enabling us with the resources, mentorship, and environment to take bold leaps.”
CrAdLE, a Technology Business Incubator under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has been instrumental in supporting Omspace with innovation infrastructure, funding guidance, and access to a robust mentorship network in the deep-tech and aerospace domains. EDII’s startup-friendly framework and institutional backing have further enabled Omspace to accelerate key technical milestones since its inception.
Omspace’s ambitions don’t stop at India. Following in the footsteps of its international ambitions, the company has recently made inroads abroad through its UAE-based subsidiary, OSRE FZC, in one of the region’s leading free economic zones. This move is also in line with the UAE vision to be a regional launch hub for private space missions and places Omspace in a position to capitalize on the Middle East’s increasing demand for satellite launch services. Omspace has also announced it is gearing up for its inaugural commercial orbital launch, set for January 2028.
The foray of startups such as Omspace into the small satellite launch vehicle space is part of a wider trend in the overall global space sector, where national space agencies are working more with private players to lower costs, increase innovation, and increase access to Low Earth Orbit (LEO). India, as well, is experiencing an unprecedented change of guard with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) throwing open their doors to commercial partnerships.
With this latest funding round and a clear roadmap ahead, Omspace Rocket and Exploration joins the growing list of Indian private space ventures, such as Agnikul Cosmos, Skyroot Aerospace, and Pixxel, that are reshaping the country’s position in the global space economy. The company’s bold focus on reusability, scalability, and affordability could prove pivotal in making space launches more accessible not just from India, but across the developing world.
As global demand for dedicated small satellite launch services intensifies, Omspace’s next phase of growth will be closely watched by investors, governments, and commercial space operators alike. The startup’s journey reflects both the entrepreneurial energy emerging from India’s space-tech sector and the increasing global relevance of sustainable and cost-effective space access.
