Swiggy Launches DeskEats to Transform Workplace Food Culture in India
Swiggy Limited, India’s largest food delivery platform, has announced the new DeskEats, a curated food delivery option for working professionals. DeskEats was launched across 7,000 tech parks, corporate campuses, and office locations across 30 cities in India, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Pune. Together, DeskEats will change how employees think about food throughout the workday. DeskEats can be found directly in the Swiggy app by typing “Office” or “Work” and then displays a curated collection of food to meet the needs of office goers.
DeskEats has themed collections at its heart that are designed to represent and enhance multiple moods and moments in the workday. Categories like “Stress Munchies,” “Deadline Desserts,” “Value Combos,” and “Healthy Nibbles” capture a range of emotional and practical food choices people make whilst working. A highlight is one-handed grabbies, which is designed for multitaskers with food items that can be eaten and enjoyed with one hand, including wraps, rolls, sandwiches, etc. “Sip-tastic Fuel” contains drinks that will energize and uplift as the workday begins to drag/move forward. “Teamwork Bites” is designed for a group to order together with team collaborators. DeskEats provides ease and variety with its over 700,000 individual food items sourced from a network of restaurants alone (200,000+ lstings).
Swiggy’s pilot data has already surfaced some interesting city-specific trends in food preferences. For example, in Bengaluru, Chicken Popcorn was popular in the Stress Munchies category, whereas Fries and Garlic Bread sticks were the preferred items in Mumbai and Gurugram, respectively. Healthier food product options, like salads, performed very well under the Healthy Nibbles collection across the cities, and the One-handed Grabbies category in DeskEats accounted for almost 30% of all DeskEats orders! Of all markets, Mumbai exhibited the highest DeskEats adoption.

Whether it’s a quick bite between meetings or a team treat after a deadline, DeskEats is built to match the rhythm of an office day.”
DeskEats draws on Swiggy’s earlier success with its Corporate Rewards program, which has over 14,000 organizations in the program and enrolled 150,000+ employees in only three months. Through a rewards program, employers have offered their teams food and grocery benefits, including ₹225 off food deliveries, ₹2,000 off Dineout bookings, and ₹100 off Instamart orders. DeskEats offers an additional layer to this construct by providing a focused, easy-to-use food discovery experience specific to office culture.
In the future, Swiggy intends to develop DeskEats to expand into the coworking environment, satellite offices, and tier-2 cities, which mirror the shift to a hybrid working model. Potential future enhancements could include diet-related filters (for example, vegan, keto, or diabetic), and integrations that allow employees to spend from corporately sponsored wallets or allowances, to allow further ease of the process. DeskEats offers much more than just variety and convenience, it also positions a transition for Swiggy become a partner in the workplace, enhancing productivity and wellbeing overall.
