DheyaTech Raises ₹43 Crore to Scale Indigenous Gas Turbine Technology

Bengaluru deep-tech startup plans to expand production, build an integrated testing facility and accelerate commercial deployment of its small gas turbine engines

Bengaluru-based aerospace and deep-tech startup DheyaTech has raised ₹43 crore (approximately $5.1 million) in a funding round led by Avaana Capital, with participation from existing strategic investor Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing Limited. The fresh capital will support the company’s efforts to scale production of its indigenous small gas turbine engines and move its technology closer to wider commercial deployment.

Founded by aerospace engineers with backgrounds at companies including GE Aviation and Rolls-Royce, DheyaTech has been developing small gas turbine technology for applications spanning aerospace propulsion, advanced aerial platforms and energy systems.

The company has spent several years developing its technology in India and is now moving from research and development toward production and deployment.

Funding to Accelerate Manufacturing

DheyaTech plans to use the newly raised capital to scale manufacturing, establish an integrated gas-turbine testing facility and accelerate customer deployments.

The company is also looking to work with Indian and international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as it expands production capabilities. Recent company information indicates that DheyaTech already has confirmed orders from Indian and global OEMs, although the customers and contract values have not been publicly disclosed.

The startup is targeting flight trials in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking an important step toward commercialising its propulsion technology.

Developing Indigenous Small Gas Turbines

DheyaTech‘s technology portfolio includes small gas turbine engines with thrust capacities ranging from approximately 20 kgf to 400 kgf.

The engines are being developed for applications including advanced aerial platforms, aerospace propulsion and distributed power generation. The company is also working on hydrogen-based propulsion and energy systems, expanding the potential applications of its underlying technology.

The development of small gas turbines is a technically demanding area because the systems require precision engineering across components such as compressors, turbines, combustion systems and electronic engine-control systems.

DheyaTech says it has developed its own Engine Control Unit (ECU) technology as part of its broader effort to build an integrated technology stack.

Focus on Aerospace and Energy

While aerospace propulsion is an important part of DheyaTech‘s business, the company’s technology has applications beyond aviation.

Its small gas turbine platforms can potentially be used for distributed power-generation applications, while its work on hydrogen-based systems could open additional opportunities in emerging energy technologies.

The company has also highlighted collaboration with IISc Bengaluru on a hydrogen-based flexi-fuel combustor for a 60-kW turbogenerator. According to company information, its hydrogen blower has also received ATEX safety certification.

Strategic Partnership With Unimech Aerospace

DheyaTech‘s relationship with Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing goes beyond a conventional financial investment.

Unimech has progressively increased its investment in DheyaTech. Its latest annual-report disclosures show that the company held approximately 29.99% of Dheya Engineering Technologies as of March 31, 2026, making DheyaTech an associate company.

Unimech‘s investor presentation also describes an exclusive manufacturing arrangement under which Unimech manufactures micro gas turbine engines developed by DheyaTech, including associated subsystems.

This relationship gives DheyaTech access to manufacturing capabilities while allowing Unimech to expand into specialised turbomachinery and aerospace-related technologies.

Building Indian Deep-Tech Capability

DheyaTech‘s latest funding round comes at a time when Indian investors are showing increasing interest in deep-tech businesses involving aerospace, defence, advanced manufacturing and energy.

Unlike many software startups, deep-tech companies generally require substantial investment in research, engineering, testing, certification and manufacturing before they can reach commercial scale.

DheyaTech‘s development illustrates this longer technology-development cycle. The company was established in 2018 and has spent years developing and testing its gas-turbine technology before moving toward larger-scale production.

The company is also pursuing an independent airworthiness-certification pathway under the CEMILAC–DRDO framework, according to information published by the startup.

Moving Toward Commercial Deployment

With the new ₹43 crore investment, DheyaTech is now focusing on the transition from engineering development to commercial production.

The planned integrated testing infrastructure is expected to support further development and validation of its engines, while additional manufacturing capacity could help the company respond to customer requirements.

The planned Q4 2026 flight trials will be another important milestone for the startup as it seeks to demonstrate its propulsion technology in real-world aerospace applications.

The company’s broader strategy is to develop and manufacture small gas-turbine technologies in India while pursuing opportunities with both domestic and international OEMs.
