WaterTectonics Introduces DSR Technology to Expand Cooling Tower Solutions

WaterTectonics is pleased to announce the expansion of its electrochemical technology portfolio through the acquisition of patents and intellectual property from Dynamic Water Technologies (DWT). Through this agreement, WaterTectonics becomes the exclusive Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the Dynamic Scale Remover (DSR), a proprietary electrochemical technology designed to improve cooling tower performance while reducing water and chemical consumption.

The addition of DSR technology combines Dynamic Water Technologies’ proven electrochemical innovation with WaterTectonics’ nearly three decades of engineering, manufacturing, and field service expertise. Together, the companies will deliver comprehensive cooling tower water treatment solutions to industrial and commercial facilities across North America.

The Dynamic Scale Remover uses a patented electrochemical process to remove dissolved, scale-forming minerals before they can accumulate on heat transfer surfaces. At the same time, the system generates powerful oxidants from naturally occurring chlorides in the cooling water. This dual-action approach can improve heat transfer efficiency, reduce scaling and biological fouling, lower chemical requirements, and enable cooling systems to operate safely at higher cycles of concentration. By increasing system efficiency and reducing blowdown requirements, DSR technology can help facilities lower operating costs while conserving valuable water resources.

DSR technology has been successfully deployed in industrial cooling tower applications, helping facilities reduce water and chemical consumption while maintaining reliable system performance.

“As industries continue to look for practical ways to conserve water and improve operational efficiency, we’re excited to bring DSR technology to our customers,” said Jason Mothersbaugh, President of WaterTectonics. “This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver innovative, sustainable cooling water solutions backed by the engineering, manufacturing, and service capabilities our customers have trusted for more than 25 years.”

As part of the agreement, WaterTectonics has welcomed Dynamic Water Technologies founder Janco Vermeulen, Ph.D.Eng., CEM. His technical expertise and experience in electrochemical water treatment will further strengthen WaterTectonics’ growing cooling tower water treatment practice.

The addition of DSR technology expands WaterTectonics’ cooling tower treatment capabilities across a range of applications, including data centers, manufacturing facilities, food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical operations, commercial buildings, and other industrial environments where reliable and efficient cooling system performance is critical.

“Dynamic Water Technologies has spent years refining electrochemical technologies to address some of the industry’s most persistent cooling water challenges,” said Janco Vermeulen, Ph.D.Eng., CEM, Founder of Dynamic Water Technologies. “Partnering with WaterTectonics allows us to combine proven electrochemical innovation with an organization that has the engineering expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and customer support needed to bring this technology to a much broader market.”

Through the integration of DSR technology into its portfolio, WaterTectonics continues to expand its commitment to innovative and sustainable water treatment solutions that help customers improve cooling system performance, reduce resource consumption, and achieve greater operational efficiency.
